My trip to the Grand Canyon included two nights camping at the Phantom Ranch, one of those places every adventurous person wants to eventually visit. I enjoyed a couple of great breakfasts and a superb steak dinner and met the manager, a life-long backcountry professional named Joanie Badley. Joanie and I spent lots of time comparing notes on the Phantom Ranch and the Len Foote Hike Inn, the backcountry lodge in the North Georgia mountains where I serve as board president. I hope she will come visit someday, because I sure enjoyed being at her place. More on the GC in future posts.<
